{time again to saddle up?...}

My grandmother celebrated her 94th birthday yesterday, on Mother's Day. One of her favourite stories to tell is about a train ride she took from Vancouver to the Flying U where she and her best gals would spend the weekends riding. A few hunters "took a shine" to her and told her they would send her something from their hunting trip. She didn't believe them until she opened a huge parcel sent to her office the following week... a grizzly bear skin!

The ranch bug is slowly nibbling at me again as we get closer to Summer. Wouldn't a long weekend at one of these rustic tented ranches be just perfect?!

its actually The Resort at Paws Up in Montana... Stunning!

Now that the Olympic Games have come to a close, I imagine tourism in the host province is going to flourish. I can't think of any place better to celebrate BC's gorgeous wilderness than the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort.
Just a 30 minute boat ride from Tofino and tucked away aside the Bedwell River, the 20 white canvas tents are just as serene and beauitful as the surrounding wilderness. No wonder Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds got married here ;)
