{globetrotting i do's...}

I'm doing a little destination wedding reconnaissance for my day job. So tell me, what's your idea of the perfect wedding away? Quiet vows on the beach? By candlelight in the courtyard of a tuscan villa?

Are warmth and sun a must or can a foggy, rustic farm be just as romantic?

{signed, sealed, delivered!...}

After a furious weekend of invitation creating, I received word this morning that this wedding suite arrived safe and sound to the bride in Colorado Springs! I know this design is getting repetitive here on lovelyvélo, but the sweet little heart detail has proven quite popular this year. I have some new designs in the works that I look forward to sharing with you soon.

{a wedding booklet...}

At last, some shots of the booklet invite interior! I hand stitched and bound each of these invitatons and am thrilled about how they turned out. The bride and groom chose a beautiful deep green cover and I then experimented with a few varieties including this gorgeous carta verese Italian paper. Visit my etsy shop for more details!

{up in the treetops...}

C and I are off to a treehouse-themed wedding this weekend. I have no idea what to expect, but I imagine it will be lovely and whimsical!

Remember that dress I was looking for? I tried on several at Holt Renfrew (ranging from $350-$500) and in the end, settled on a short little cutie from Winners for only $25!!! Now, to find the perfect little heels!

Wishing you a sunny end of May weekend!

{invitation sneak peek...}

Remember those maps and hard-cover invitations I was telling you about? Well, all 65 are done! I'll have more to share from the interiors soon (once all the guests have received them), but I just couldn't wait to show you a few shots of the covers!

I'll have something similar available on my Etsy Store soon.

{map madness...}

For weeks I have been working on the final details of a wedding map for the center of a 10 page, hardcover wedding invite that I'm designing for some friends (yes, 10 pages! hard cover!). As my first genuine foray into map design, I can tell you there have been a few tears and many-a-hair pulled. But alas, it is complete and I'm pretty tickled with the final product. They are of course, nothing like these gorgeous creations by Stephanie Barba, but not bad for a first attempt ;)
Once all the invitees have received their copy, I look forward to sharing the full booklet and process with you here!

{an australian wedding...}

I am just tickled today to have made my first wedding invitation sale on etsy!!!
They will be making their way to Australia next month and I hope they bring as much joy to the bride and groom as I had making them.

{the bride...}

I've saved the pièce-de-résistence for last... the oh-so-beautiful bride!

A wore a dress designed and handmade by Toronto's Catherine Langlois. The pleats along the trip were my favourite detail...

She wore a silk flower from Japan in her hair and check out the gorgeous daisy detailing on the strap as well as the huge flower on the shoulder... perfect for a garden cocktail wedding!

{the sisters...}

My older sis and I were extactic to be wearing vintage 1950's cocktail dresses from Toronto's Cabaret. This is the most exquisite shopping experience you will ever have, owner Tao treats every customer like gold and every item is unique.

A treated us to these beautiful 1920's antique bracelets... Tricky to see, but each one has carvings of a different flower with a hint of sparkle... Mine (left) and A's (middle) are dahlias, and J's (right) are roses.

Thank you A for these most perfect keepsakes!

{the invitations...}

These are the invitations I designed for my sister's wedding. She wanted a 1950's vintage-inspired design witha a garden cocktail twist...

Because most of the guests were from out of town, I made the invitation to a tri-fold booklet... To the far left, the invitation; in the middle, details about the garden and the after-cocktail dinner; and to the right, directions to the church and reception.

{a garden wedding...}

With the house to myself this weekend, I had plenty of time to fuss over the pictures that C and I took at my sister's wedding. I thought I would take this week to share many of the perfectly lovely details, starting today with the exquisite flower arrangements by the exceptionally talented miss L.

For months, my mom scoured every second hand store in southern ontario for milk glass, big and small. The bud vases were my absolute favourite, setting the tone of a sweet garden day as guests walked past the living room mantel on their way to the back yard.

On their way out, guests were invited to take a jar of honey, made by our priest. The tiered tray turned out beautifully, especially L's flower arrangement on top!

These are my mom's famous shortbread cookies and below her favourite detail of the wedding, L's arrangement in the center of a heart-shaped tray. I think the two of them need to start their own business!

{off for a few days...}

i'll be off for the next few days... packing my suitcase tonight with:
* my 1950's vintage pink bridesmaid dress
* my pretty cream & gold peep-toe shoes
* my karma necklace
* a few other flowy garden dresses for the rehearsal and brunch
the house will be full of family and friends... a reunion sleep-over and wedding to boot!

{wedding invitations...}

These are the wedding invitations I created for my little sis' 1950's inspired garden wedding. They are 5 1/4" square and fold out into three sections; the invitation, the reception details, and the location information. There is a 3" flap on the far right that keeps the reply card envelope intact. {photographs by the lovely Tanya Winter}

{pedals & paper...}

I just delivered wedding invitations to my friend Shannon and couldn't resist snapping a photo of them in my bike basket. Shannon is getting married at a vineyard in Niagara, so I wrapped her invitations in a wine box. Once she's sent them out to her guests, I'll post a few pictures.

{brides & bows...}

My best friend and her mom hosted a beautiful bridal shower for my sister yesterday. The front door set the tone for the whole afternoon - creative, tasteful, thoughtful and totally... Ashley.

{june peonies...}

I love these peony graphics by Feathered Nest Press. I've
used them for shower invitations and will also be using
them as personalized thank you notes for my sister - thank
you Jennifer for the beautiful designs!

{vintage wedding...}

These are the invitations I designed for my sister's 1950's-
inspired garden wedding. The envelope addresses were
handwritten by the lovely and talented Claire Reyes.

These table linens will be used for the cocktail reception,
dotted with milk glass bud vases with pink & white flowers.
